KGHM ZANAM’s new loader successfully completes tests

At the end of last year, underground testing of the LKP-1001 loader’s prototype reached its end. This is the latest version of the LKP family machine (successor to LKP-0903), which is a group of flagship products of KGHM ZANAM S.A. The results of the tests are positive and indicate the highest quality and design maturity of this new machine. This opens the way for the formal approval of this modern loader for operation, which in turn will significantly increase the commercial potential of the Polkowice-based company.

The LKP-1001 loader was tested in the Lubin Mine. The designers, KGHM ZANAM S.A., have modernised construction elements in their new product and also have implemented entirely new solutions as well as components. The machine outperforms its predecessor in all key parameters. The LKP-1001 loader boasts a lifting capacity of 10 tonnes (in comparison to 9 tonnes achieved by its predecessor). Stage V engine, which meets the strictest exhaust emission standards, has been implemented in the machine. The loader incorporates the latest developments in the hydraulic system by including variable displacement pumps as well as an oil filtration and quality monitoring system. Maintenance has also been improved by allowing access to filters from the ground level. The smooth operation of the working system and the high power of the drive train (increased by 25%), combined with the new type of gearbox, allow the loader to move smoothly and dynamically, both when picking up excavated material and when hauling. The loader is suitable for remote control implementation.

The machine was developed in response to the needs of the mines belonging to KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. The designers of the LKP-1001 loader have placed the greatest emphasis on increasing operator safety, comfort and efficiency. Attention should be paid to the ergonomic cab, which was designed on the basis of the recommendations of future users, that is operators. Special design of the cab significantly reduces operator’s exposure to noise, high temperature and vibration. In addition, a new air conditioning module provides protection against poisonous gases. An innovation in cab equipment is a 12-inch display with a new, clearer interface that makes the loader easier to operate.

When it comes to internal market, the new loader was designed in full cooperation between us and the user, that is, the miners of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.’s mines. However, we hope that the new product on offer will also contribute to strengthening our position on foreign markets,” added Bernard Cichocki, President of the Management Board of the Polkowice-based company.
