Loaders

A mining loader is the primary production machine in underground non-ferrous metal ore mines, designed for the loading and haulage of run-of-mine material from production faces in the underground non-gassy workings of metal ore mines, as well as mines extracting minerals other than hard coal and metal ores. KGHM ZANAM has been manufacturing underground loaders for decades: as a subsidiary of the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Group, it understands the unique nature of underground operations better than anyone else.

Bucket loaders for operations in underground workings

The articulated wheeled bucket loader is a design created specifically for low-profile workings, where manoeuvrability and compact dimensions are of paramount importance. The articulated wheeled chassis enables both the working and drive frames to pivot in either direction relative to the vehicle’s axis; this allows the machine to manoeuvre efficiently in workings that intersect at right angles, which is typical for the room-and-pillar mining method.

The bucket, serving as the working attachment, allows for the efficient loading of the excavated mineral (run-of-mine material) and its transport to a load haul dump loader or onto a grizzly screen. The bucket capacity and payload are customised to meet specific customer requirements.

What makes KGHM ZANAM mining loaders stand out?

Every mining loader in the KGHM ZANAM portfolio is designed around four fundamental pillars:

  • Operator safety and comfort: a robust cab structure (which provides the seated operator with protection against crushing from a vertical impact of up to 60 kJ on the machine), an intuitive control system, and an ergonomic, air-conditioned cab, all of which minimise fatigue and the risk of accidents during long working shifts;

  • Extended service life and reliability: careful selection of materials and components ensures the machine can operate in harsh underground conditions without unscheduled downtime;

  • Ease and speed of servicing: thoughtfully designed access to service points translates into lower maintenance costs and reduced machine downtime.

The machines comply with the requirements applicable in non-gassy underground mines and hold the necessary certificates authorising their use in Polish mining facilities.

The certification documentation can be found in the Certificates tab.

Loader models: various payloads and bucket capacities

Our portfolio includes several models of mining loaders differing in dimensions, payload, and bucket capacity range, which allows customers to select the appropriate machine for the specific operational conditions of their mine:

  • LD4: a 4-tonne payload class, ideal for workings with limited dimensions. A multifunctional machine with a set of interchangeable attachments. The equipment includes a concrete mixer, forks, and a belt reeler, among others.

  • LD7: a 7-tonne payload class, offering versatile application in ore mines;

  • LD8: an 8-tonne payload class, serving as an intermediate solution between the LD7 and LD10 models;

  • LD9L: a 9-tonne payload class, designed for demanding production faces;

  • LD9: a 9-tonne payload class, with a bucket capacity from 4 to 4.6 m³, engine power of 168 kW, and a machine length of 10.40 m;

  • LD10: a 10-tonne payload class, engine power of 225 kW, length of 9.8 m; it delivers high performance alongside moderate dimensions;

  • LD17: the largest model in the series, featuring a 17-tonne payload class, an 8.6 m³ bucket capacity, 330 kW engine power, and a length of 11.50 m;

  • LD17N: an upgraded version of the LD17 model, offering the same payload (17 t) and bucket capacity (8.6 m³) parameters with a power output of 330 kW.

Detailed technical specifications (engine power, machine weight, dimensions, and bucket capacity) are available on the individual product pages.

Application of articulated wheeled loaders in mining

KGHM ZANAM articulated wheeled mining loaders are perfectly suited wherever:

  • the mineral is extracted using the room-and-pillar mining method;

  • the workings have a limited width and height, requiring a machine with a small turning radius;

  • the run-of-mine material is transported to load haul dump loaders or transfer points using a belt conveyor haulage system;

  • extremely difficult operational and environmental conditions are present.

Service and technical support

KGHM ZANAM provides comprehensive after-sales service for all its manufactured machines.

The technical services offered include:

  • periodic inspections;

  • major overhauls and routine repairs;

  • deliveries of original spare parts.

A rapid service response and in-depth knowledge of the machines’ design guarantee minimal fleet downtime.
